About

Hello, I’m Mehul.

I am a communication strategist and anthropologist with several years of experience in the international development sector, working across strategy, storytelling, digital communication, and public-facing content.
My story

Generosity shaped how I understand the world.

I grew up in Delhi, India, in a lower-middle-class family. Even when we had little, I experienced the generosity of others in ways that changed the course of my life.

A teacher once paid my school fees out of her own pocket and helped me move toward better opportunities. Later, when I had the chance to present my research internationally, friends and my college came together to make that possible too. Looking back, I understand that my life has been shaped not only by effort, but by the kindness and belief of others.

That is part of why words like philanthropy have always felt personal to me. I do not think first of billionaires or institutions. I think of people who saw something in me, gave without hesitation, and helped me keep going.

Today, my work in communications is grounded in that memory of generosity - and in a wider commitment to justice, dignity, and showing up for people who are often overlooked.

Values

What I stand for.

These are not just ideas I mention. They shape how I write, plan, and collaborate.

Strategic communication

I prioritise goal-oriented, audience-focused communication that considers timing, tone, and the best way to engage people meaningfully.

Justice and activism

I integrate human rights, climate justice, gender, and equity into my work to support organisations trying to make meaningful change.

Kindness and collaboration

I value humility, care, and collaboration in the way I work with teams, partners, and audiences.

Positionality and dignity

I challenge stereotypes through thoughtful narratives and visual choices that promote cultural complexity, dignity, and respect.

Context

The lived experience behind the work.

The personal and political are not separate in how I approach communication.

Delhi → Belgium I now live in Belgium, carrying with me the experiences and politics of moving across places and systems.
Queer, brown, migrant My experience of racism, homophobia, and migration has deepened my commitment to justice-led communication.
Anthropology + comms I bring together strategic communication and anthropological attention to context, power, and meaning.
